Mayor apologizes for remarks which angered Takei

Update: Roanoke Mayor David A. Bowers apologized Friday for praising the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, according to The Huffington Post. "I apologize to all those offended by my remarks," Bowers said at a special meeting of the Roanoke City Council, resisting calls for his resignation. "No one else is to be blamed but me."

As for the audience, the NFL and Yahoo compared viewership for the free, advertising-supported broadcast to that of a typical Monday Night Football broadcast, which draws about 13.5 million. For the record, ESPN took offense at that comparison pointing out, correctly, that the TV numbers mean at any given time there were 13.5 million watching.

French authorities released a photo of Abdeslam Salah, who may have been involved in the Friday night terror attacks in Paris. The 26-year-old was born in Brussels, Belgium. Police said “please do not take action yourself” and to contact authorities with any information about his location, as he is considered dangerous

California student dies in Paris attacks

A 20-year-old college student from California was among those killed in the terror attacks in Paris Friday night, according to Long Beach university where she was a student.

Nohemi Gonzalez, a college junior design, is now among at least 129 killed in the attacks and 352 wounded or injured. A statement on Facebook by California State University, Long Beach, said Gonzalez was an enrolled there and was attending Strate College of Design in Paris during a semester abroad.

French police report shootout and explosion in Paris

Police officials in France say there has been an explosion in a bar near a Paris stadium and a shootout in a Paris restaurant.

BFM television says there were several dead in the restaurant shooting in the 10th arrondissement of the capital. Two police officials confirmed the shooting but had no information about casualties.
